Habagat floods 152 barangays in Ilocos Region; over 4,000 evacuees recorded

DAGUPAN CITY — The southwest monsoon or "habagat" continued to trigger flooding across several parts of the Ilocos Region, affecting 152 barangays and displacing more than 4,000 individuals, according to the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) under PBGen. Jovencio Badua Jr., Regional Director.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2026, PRO 1 reported 58 occupied evacuation centers sheltering 1,204 families or 4,042 individuals affected by the prevailing weather conditions.
A total of 152 barangays were reported flooded, while one barangay was isolated.
Authorities also recorded 22 roads and one bridge as not passable due to flooding and other weather-related conditions.
Response operations remained active, with three search, rescue and retrieval (SRR) operations conducted.
A total of 35 individuals have been rescued, while one body has been recovered.
PRO 1 said continued moderate to heavy rainfall may cause further rises in water levels along rivers and other waterways, particularly in low-lying, urbanized and flood-prone areas.
All classes in the Ilocos Region have been suspended as a precautionary measure to protect students, teaching personnel and the general public.
Under the leadership of PBGen. Jovencio Badua Jr., PRO 1 remains on heightened alert and continues to coordinate with local government units, disaster response offices and other concerned agencies for continuous monitoring, timely dissemination of weather information and immediate response to emerging flooding and other weather-related incidents.
