CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu valued at P6.8 million was seized from a habal-habal driver in Barangay Guadalupe here.
The 25-year-old suspect, a certain Ryan, was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) and Cebu City Police Office Station 9 at past 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3.
PDEA-7 Director Joel Plaza said the suspect yielded 40 packs of shabu weighing one kilo. Plaza said the suspect was also arrested in 2023 for illegal drug charges.
The suspect was released on probation but the PDEA-7 was informed that he allegedly returned to his illegal drugs activities.
The PDEA-7 said that a six-week case buildup showed that the suspect was selling a kilo of shabu a week.
Charges for violation of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II, of Republic Act No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect, the PDEA 7 said.
If found guilty, the suspect may face the maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of up to P10 million.
