Palace believes Lacson won't 'compromise' Taguig infra probe amid truce feelers with Cayetano

Malacañang trusts that Senator Panfilo Lacson will not allow any calls for a truce with Senator Alan Peter Cayetano to compromise the ongoing investigation into the infrastructure projects in Taguig City.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said that, given Senator Panfilo Lacson's character, he would not allow the supposed reconciliation to interfere with the investigation.
Castro, however, believes that if the two warring senators can reconcile, their working relationship will improve, especially at a time when the Senate is packed with schedule, including the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte. 
"Kung sila po ay magkakasundo at mawawala na iyong mga personal nilang sentimyento sa bawat isa mas, magiging maganda ang kanilang relasyon sa pagtatrabaho (If they are able to reconcile and set aside their personal sentiments toward one another, their working relationship will improve)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
"Pero naniniwala tayo na sa pagkatao po ni Senator Lacson hindi po siya makikipag-compromise para lang mawala ang kanyang pag-iimbestiga (However, we believe that, given Senator Lacson’s character, he will not compromise just to stop or weaken his investigations)," Castro added.
The Palace official further said that they believe  that the issues that need to be investigated will continue to be pursued.
"Kung may mga ebidensiya alam po din natin na ito ay kaniyang ipagpapatuloy (If there is evidence, we know that he will continue to act on it)," she said.
Senator Erwin Tulfo recently disclosed that senators are pushing for a truce between Senators Panfilo Lacson and Alan Peter Cayetano amid the ongoing probe into the Taguig infrastructure projects flagged by Lacson.
Castro also said it would be better for everyone to reach an agreement, stressing that differences in views should not strain relationships.
"Mas maganda naman po talaga na ang bawat tao, hindi lang po public servants, lahat po sana ay nagkakasundo. May mga pagkakataon na magkakaiba nga ang opinyon pero hindi kinakailangan talaga na umabot sa hindi magandang relasyon (It would really be better if everyone,ev not just public servants, but all people, could come to an agreement. There will be times when opinions differ, but it should not necessarily lead to strained relationships)," Castro said.
