‎Basilan town listed as high-risk area in BARMM polls

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Commission on Elections has included the town of Al-Barka in Basilan province in the red list category, a list of high-risk areas in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections in September.
‎
‎High-risk areas are places exhibiting the highest risk level due to a combination of active armed insurgent groups, intense local political rivalries, and a history of election-related violence.
‎
‎Al-Barka has 13,664 voters.
‎
‎Two municipalities in the province were included by the Comelec in the orange category, towns flagged due to serious security threats posed by lawless elements.
‎
‎These are Tipo Tipo with 14,960 voters and Tabuan-Lasa with 18,140 voters.
‎
‎The list was prepared in connection with the elections on Sept. 14.
