Palace respects court's decision granting ex-senator Revilla's bail petition

Malacañang said it respects the court's decision to grant former senator Bong Revilla's bail petition.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said Malacañang respects the decision and leaves the appropriate course of action to the prosecutors.

"Nasa sa kamay ng Sandiganbayan ang pagpapasya sa mga ganyang usapin. Nirerespeto ng administrasyon ang mga resolution o decision ng mga korte (The decision on such matters rests with the Sandiganbayan. The administration respects the resolutions and decisions of the courts)," Castro said on Friday afternoon, July 31.

"Nasa kamay na rin po ng mga prosecutors kung ano ang nararapat na tamang aksyon o remedyo para sa nasabing order o resolution ng Sandiganbayan (It is now up to the prosecutors to determine the appropriate course of action or legal remedy in response to the Sandiganbayan's order or resolution)," Castro added.

"Dapat lang laging manaig ang batas at ang proseso (The rule of law and due process must always prevail)," she further said.

On Friday, Revilla posted a P1-million cash bail in connection with the pending malversation case linked to the alleged anomalous P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

The bail petition was approved by the Sandiganbayan Third Division, allowing the former senator provisional liberty amid his pending case.
