Ex-senator Bong Revilla posts P1-M bail in P92.8-M Bulacan flood control case

Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Friday, July 31, posted a P1-million cash bail in connection with the pending malversation case linked to the alleged anomalous P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
In an order dated July 31, the Sandiganbayan Third Division said Revilla had posted a P1-million cash bail, which was approved by the anti-graft court, allowing him provisional liberty while the case is pending.
“The accused, RAMON BAUTISTA BONG REVILLA, JR. a.k.a. RAMON “BONG” BAUTISTA REVILLA, JR., in the above-entitled case has posted his cash bail bond, in the amount of PESOS ONE MILLION (P1,000,000.00), under Official Receipt No. JEPS-2026-000179958 dated July 31, 2026, which is duly approved by this Court, is allowed provisional liberty in connection with this case,” the order read.

Reacting to the anti-graft court’s order, Assistant Ombudsman Jose Dominic “Mico” Clavano IV said the Office of the Ombudsman (OMB) respects the Sandiganbayan’s rulings, but stands by the findings of its own investigation.
“The Office of the Ombudsman, while it respects the orders and decisions of the Sandiganbayan, must stand by its own investigation and work,” Clavano said in a statement.
He added that the Ombudsman would pursue available legal remedies to demonstrate that the evidence against Revilla is sufficient to justify the denial of bail.
“We will exhaust all remedies to highlight the basis for which we can say that evidence of guilt is indeed strong against former Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla,” said Clavano.
Prior to posting bail, Revilla was detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Barangay Payatas.
