2 Reds killed in Oriental Mindoro clash

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Two New People’s Army rebels were killed and another was wounded in an encounter with the military in Naujan, this province, on Wednesday, July 29.
The 76th Infantry Battalion said troops engaged approximately 10 NPAs under the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya, Ignacio Calavria Magadia Command, in Barangay Del Pilar.
Barangay Chairman Israel Saunar informed municipal police that residents in Purok 2 and 3 heard a series of gunfire and explosions.
Local police informed higher headquarters about the incident to establish checkpoints in the area.
Saunar confirmed the encounter by issuing a certificate saying that the 76th IB under the 203rd Infantry Brigade and communist rebels engaged in a gun battle at about 11 a.m.
