VP Duterte flies out for 'multi-country trip'

Vice President Sara Duterte has left the Philippines for a multi-country trip, her office disclosed.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 21, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said: The Vice President has left for an overseas trip.
According to the OVP, the Vice President overseas trip includes a stop in Qatar, United Kingdom, and The Netherlands.
Malacañang revealed that Duterte was granted a travel authority from July 16 to 31, 2026.
While the OVP said that the Vice President is set to visit three countries during her 15-day travel, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed that Duterte will be traveling to Qatar, Germany, UK, Northern Ireland, and The Netherlands.
The OVP statement stated that Duterte's travel itinerary include a stop in Qatar, a participation in a forum and a Filipino community (FilCom) event in the United Kingdom, as well as in The Netherlands.
"These activities are intended to engage with overseas Filipinos and advance the Philippines’ interests abroad," the OVP said.
It added that the itinerary includes both official foreign travel and personal engagements.
The OVP also stressed that "no government funds will be used by the Vice President for the entire duration of the trip."
While the Vice President is out of the country until the end of July, the OVP said it "remains fully prepared and operational with its disaster response mechanisms in place in times of emergencies".
It added that the OVP will also continue the implementation of its programs and projects, carried out through its ten satellite offices nationwide.
Duterte’s travel abroad comes amid the Senate impeachment trial against her.
