Pateros suspends face-to-face classes due to bomb threats

The Pateros municipal government suspended face-to-face classes in public and private schools for July 21 due to bomb threats spreading on social media. 

The class suspension covers child development centers up to Grade 12 based on a decision made in a coordination meeting on July 20. 

“Ang hakbang na ito ay isang pag-iingat upang matiyak ang kaligtasan, seguridad, at kapakanan ng ating mga mag-aaral, guro, at kawani habang patuloy na sinusuri at bineberipika ng mga kinauukulang awtoridad ang iniulat na usaping pangseguridad (This step is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff while the relevant authorities continue to review and verify the reported security issue),” the municipal government said. 

The decision was supported by the School Parents-Teachers Association officers, Philippine National Police, school heads and public schools district supervisor. 

Instead of face-to-face classes, all covered schools will implement the Alternative Delivery Mode of Learning (ADM) based on regulations by the Department of Education (DepEd). 

The municipal government suspended face-to-face classes at Pateros National High School and Pateros Elementary School on July 20 after a bomb threat targeting the high school was posted on TikTok. No explosives were found in the high school.
