Adamson standout Shai Nitura is ready to answer the call for Team Philippines should she earn a spot in the final roster of Alas Pilipinas for the 20th Asian Games in Japan this September.
The 21-year-old Nitura said her recovery from ankle surgery earlier this year has progressed well, adding that she is prepared to embrace the challenge if she is named to the national team's final lineup.
Nitura, the UAAP Season 88 MVP, was named in the Alas Women training pool led by captain Jia De Guzman and supervised by Japanese coach Taka Minowa.
“It’s a big achievement to be part of the pool,” said Nitura. “As of now, recovering ako, pero soon I’ll be back. Makakalaro naman ako sa Asian Games kung mapasama ako sa final roster. Kayang kaya naman.”
Nitura said if given a chance, she would take the opportunity to learn from the best players in the region.
“Looking forward [ako] kung sakaling mapasama ako dun sa lineup, great opportunity sya sa akin and one of the biggest stages na pwede kong laruan and makuhanan ng experience and learning,” she said.
“Kasi, one of the biggest stages na pwede mong ma-achieve as a player… Ite-take advantage ko lahat, ‘yong opportunity to learn and gain experience para madala ko sa team and for myself,” the 5-foot-9 outside spiker added.
