Mandaluyong blacklists supplier over underweight rice distribution, Palace says
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro (Betheena Unite)
Malacañang disclosed that the rice supplier involved in the distribution in Mandaluyong City has been blacklisted after rice relief distributed to residents was found to be two kilograms short.
Under the "Bawat Barangay Makikinabang" program initiated by President Marcos, 10 kilograms of rice were distributed to each beneficiary during a rice-giving activity in Mandaluyong City.
However, the Palace learned that of the 29,500 sacks of rice supposedly containing 10 kilos, about 50 of them were short by two kilograms.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a briefing on Monday, July 13, that the incident "is not something th President would want."
She bared that the actions have been taken, including the blacklisting of the supplier.
"Hindi po ito nanaisin ng Pangulo. Kung ano dapat na ibigay sa taumbayan dapat ibigay (No, this is not something the President would want. Whatever is meant to be given to the people should be given in full)," Castro said.
The issue, Castro added, was also acknowledged by the supplier and apologized for the mistake.
The supplier also pledged to give an additional 10-kilogram sack of rice to this who received the underweight sacks.
"So, ang aksiyon po ng supplier, ang sabi po ang pangako ay papalitan ng buo na 10 kilos ang sako na nakakuha ng eight kilos, bibigyan ng additional na 10 kilos na bigas. At hindi na babawiin ang unang naibigay na mga eight kilos lang (So the action of the supplier, the vowed that all recipients who received sacks containing only eight kilograms will be given an additional 10-kilogram sack of rice. The original eight-kilogram sacks will not be taken back)," Castro said.
"So, ang LGU po ay nagdesisyon na i-blacklist ang supplier at may isinasagawa na rin sila po silang pag-iimbestiga patungkol po dito (So, the local government has decided to blacklist the supplier and has also launched an investigation into the incident)," she added.
