David Licauco pushes limits with new fitness milestone
Actor David Licauco continues to challenge himself beyond the worlds of acting and business, recently achieving another personal fitness milestone after clocking his fastest race time yet in an international fitness competition in Jakarta.
The "Pambansang Ginoo" finished the race in 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 38 seconds, making him the highest-ranked Filipino competitor in the event and setting the fastest time recorded by a Filipino across all age groups.
For David, joining competitions like these isn't just about chasing medals or rankings—it's about constantly finding new ways to improve himself.
"It's challenging. But I treat Hyrox as one of my priorities. With acting & business, my schedule can be unpredictable, so I just try to maximize every free time I get to train. That means working out at 5 am if my taping call time is 7 am. If you really want something, you'll make time for it," he shared in an email interview.
On Instagram, the actor thanked everyone who supported him and hinted that he has no plans of slowing down.
"Whole lot of support. Coming back stronger," he wrote.
David placed ninth in the men's 30–34 age group and 28th overall among 1,221 competitors in the men's open division.
"For me, it's really about self-improvement. I see it the same way I see basketball, business, and acting. At first, you might not be good at something, and you might even fail, but that never stops me from figuring out where I can improve and how I can get better. That process of growth is what keeps me motivated," he said.
Asked whether he'd rather endure a 12-hour taping day or take on another race, David didn't hesitate.
"Definitely HYROX."
The latest result also eclipsed his previous personal best of 1:07:48, which he recorded during his international debut in Taipei earlier this year, where he likewise emerged as the top Filipino finisher.
