P200,000 unregistered instant slimming coffee seized in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – Two women were arrested for allegedly selling unregistered instant slimming coffee in Barangay Pahina Central here.

Five boxes containing these were seized during the raid conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Mandaue City Field Unit past 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. Police said the seized items were worth P200,000.

The suspects were identified as Gera, 39, and Grace, 35, both from Cebu City.

The store was known for selling beauty products but the CIDG-7 received a report that coffee products that supposedly aid weight management were also being sold in the establishment.

Police conducted the raid after learning that the coffee products were not registered with the Food and Drug Administration

Charges for violating Section 11(a) in relation to Section 12(j) of Republic Act No. 9711, the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, will be filed against the suspects.
