BAGUIO CITY – Police recently arrested a New People’s Army rebel wanted in Kalinga province.
The suspect was nabbed in Barangay Camp 7 here.
He was a member of the Executive Committee and official of the Finance Committee of the weakened Kilusang Larangang Guerilla Baggas operating in Kalinga.
The Police Regional Office-Cordillera said the suspect was apprehended on warrants issued by courts in Tabuk City and Lubuagan, Kalinga for four counts of murder, 14 counts of attempted murder, two counts of frustrated murder, arson, and robbery with violence or intimidation of persons.
The suspect was taken to the Bureau of Jail Management Kalinga District Jail in Tabuk City.
Meanwhile, an NPA rebel was also recently arrested in Lopez, Quezon.
Police Col. Romulo Albacea, Quezon police director, said the communist rebel, a squad leader of Platun Reymart of the sub-regional military area 4-B of the NPA, was nabbed in Barangay Bocboc on a warrant for attempted murder issued by the Gumaca, Quezon Regional Trial Court Branch 62.
Recovered from the suspect were an M16 Bushmaster rifle, two magazines, 70 5.56mm bullets, and three 12-gauge shotgun bullets. (With a report from Danny Estacio)
