Qualified beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program may again use Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-issued guarantee letters (GLs) to buy medicines and other medical supplies in 262 branches of Mercury Drug starting June 22.
DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the resumption is intended to make it easier for beneficiaries to access medicines without having to go through additional reimbursement or cash-out processes.
“Magandang balita po ito para sa ating mga kababayang nangangailangan ng agarang tulong medikal (This is good news for our fellow citizens who urgently need medical assistance),” she said.
“Patuloy po nating pinalalakas ang ating pakikipag-ugnayan sa ating mga partner establishments upang mas mailapit ang serbisyo ng DSWD sa ating mga kababayan (We continue to strengthen coordination with partner establishments to bring DSWD services closer to our people),” she added.
