A 26-year-old man wanted for multiple counts of child abuse involving his 15-year-old niece was arrested in Bauang, La Union on Tuesday, June 16.
The suspect faces five counts of violating Republic Act 7610, the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, based on a warrant issued following complaints filed by the victim’s family.
Police said a confidential informant disclosed his location, prompting coordination between the La Loma Police Station and Bauang Municipal Police Station.
He had been hiding in La Union for several months after the case was filed in Quezon City.
Investigators found the alleged incidents occurred inside the victim’s home in Barangay Maharlika, Quezon City, where the suspect lived with the family from March to June 2025.
The victim revealed the abuse to her parents only after the fifth incident.
La Loma Police Station commander Lt. Col. Jose Luis Aguirre said the operation was carried out after the suspect’s whereabouts were validated.
He is now under the custody of the La Loma Police Station pending inquest proceedings.
The suspect denied the accusations and has no prior criminal record. Further investigation is ongoing.
