Additional “ChariTimba” food packs were dispatched on Tuesday, June 16, for residents affected by the magnitude 5.8 quake that jolted Glan, Sarangani, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said.
In a statement, the agency said relief goods were loaded aboard a Philippine Air Force (PAF) C-295 aircraft at Villamor Air Base and departed at around 7:30 a.m. for General Santos City.
“The airlift operation was conducted in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to facilitate the immediate transport of assistance to affected communities,” PCSO said.
Per the agency, the latest deployment is part of the government's continuing response to communities in Southern Mindanao, which are experiencing a series of seismic events following the magnitude 7.8 quake that struck the region on June 8.
The dispatch of additional “ChariTimba” food packs was undertaken in line with President Marcos’ directive to deliver assistance to communities affected by the earthquakes in Southern Mindanao, PCSO added.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the agency is working closely with its national and local government partners to ensure that aid reaches affected communities without delay.
"PCSO remains committed to supporting communities affected by these earthquakes. Through our continuing coordination with the Office of Civil Defense and other partner agencies, we are working to ensure that relief assistance reaches those who need it most," he said.
The agency said each “ChariTimba” package includes essential food items aimed at supporting families as they cope with emergency situations and temporary displacement.
