Magnitude 5.1 aftershock jolts Sarangani; felt at Intensity V in GenSan

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off Sarangani on Wednesday afternoon, June 10, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at 5:13 p.m., with its epicenter located 18 kilometers south-southeast of Glan, Sarangani, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and was identified as an aftershock of the magnitude 7.8 offshore Sarangani earthquake that struck on June 8.
It was felt at Intensity V (strong) in General Santos City, South Cotabao, while it was reported at Intensity II (slightly felt) in Kidapawan City, Cotabato.
Based on instrumental intensity measurements, Intensity IV (moderately strong) was recorded in General Santos City and the municipalities of Maasim and Malapatan in Sarangani.
Intensity III (weak) was monitored in Malungon, Sarangani, and in Lake Sebu, Tupi, and Tboli in South Cotabato.
Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) was recorded in Maitum, Sarangani, and in Koronadal City, Santo Niño, Surallah, and Tampakan in South Cotabato.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, Phivolcs had recorded 2,355 aftershocks from the June 8 offshore Sarangani earthquake, with magnitudes ranging from 1.2 to 6.4. Of these, 54 were felt.
