A teenager is arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City. (PDEA-7)
CEBU CITY – A 17-year-old boy was taken into protective custody after a buy-bust operation in Barangay Guadalupe here on Monday night, June 7.
The boy was taken into custody for allegedly selling shabu to undercover operatives, said Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas chief Joel Plaza.
Plaza said it was only after the arrest that it was determined that the boy is still 17-years-old.
Agents of the PDEA-7 and operatives of Station 9 of the Cebu City Police Office seized three packs of suspected shabu worth P510,000 from the boy.
The PDEA-7 said the involvement of the minor has been referred to the Cebu City Social Welfare and Development Office, which has issued a certificate on the preliminary determination of the discernment of the minor.
Final determination of discernment will be made by the court.
The PDEA-7 said further investigation is ongoing after it was reported that the boy has an accomplice in the illegal drug activity.
The boy was allegedly selling 500 grams of shabu a week.
After undergoing inquest proceedings, the boy was brought to the Operation Second Chance, a facility that houses children in conflict with the law.
