Whisky and cocktails tend to carry their own rituals. Some prefer a slow pour in a quiet bar. Others move from one round to the next in louder rooms, stretching the night a little longer than planned.
At Newport World Resorts, the week unfolds as a celebration of both World Whisky Day on May 13 and World Cocktail Day on May 16, with bars across the property offering everything from rare single malts to signature cocktails and zero-proof pours.
At The Whisky Library, the spotlight falls on rare bottles from The Dalmore Constellation Collection, including the 1971 Cask No. 2 valued at P3.4 million, the 1973 Cask No. 10 at P2.9 million, and the 1991 Cask No. 27 priced at P1.55 million. The lineup reflects the more serious side of whisky collecting, bottles shaped over decades and poured in small measures.
For World Cocktail Day, the same venue highlights its “Fab Four” drink from the third volume of its cocktail collection, combining single malt with honey, vanilla, lemon, bitters, and egg white into a smoother, fuller drink.
For guests skipping alcohol altogether, the bar is also offering zero-proof versions of classics such as the Amaretto Sour, Daiquiri, Gin Basil, and Whiskey Sour using Sober Spirits alternatives, alongside sparkling tea selections including Noble Truth Cranberry Rose and Mindful Sparks Dragon Pearl Jasmine.
Elsewhere on the property, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill Philippines is serving The Old Man, a cocktail combining bourbon, cognac, apple liqueur, and bitters, built with a stronger, more layered profile.
At Hotel Okura Manila, the drinks take on a slightly different pace. The Smoked Godfather, available at Sora Pool Bar, Yawaragi, and Yamazato, mixes smoked whisky with amaretto, while seasonal cocktails such as the Sakura Aperol Spritz and Dirty Negroni round out the selection.
The Manila Marriott Hotel joins in with a more casual format through its Charles and James Highball Unlimited offering, priced at P400 nett for two hours. It is paired with the Rising Star cocktail series, featuring drinks created by emerging Filipino bartenders.
At Bar360 and The Grand Bar and Lounge, the cocktails move toward brighter flavors. The Manila Colada combines rum, mango, coconut, lime, and cinnamon, while the Sweet Escape mixes white rum with citrus and fruit notes. Both are available until June 30 at P400 nett.
Whether it is whisky, cocktails, or alcohol-free pours, the celebration gives guests plenty of reasons to make a night of it.
