BACOLOD CITY – A 35-year-old New People's Army (NPA) militiaman wanted for the killing of an individual in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental three years ago was arrested in Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Police served an arrest warrant for murder against Ben-Ben of Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, an alleged member of Yunit Militia (YM), Central Negros 1-Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor (CN1-KRNCBS).
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) said the suspect was fifth most wanted person in the region.
The suspect, according to PRO-NIR, was allegedly involved in a shooting incident in Moises Padilla in 2023. He, along with four companions, invited the victim outside his house to talk and shot him.
The manhunt operation led by the Sagay City Police Station reflected the PRO-NIR's intensified efforts in dismantling criminal elements and NPA-linked personalities while maintaining peace and order across the region.
Police said intelligence-driven operations and the relentless coordination among police units tracked down fugitives who pose threats to public safety and community security.
