Department of Justice (DOJ) Acting Secretary Fredderick A. Vida is expected to be back in Manila by the end of the month.
“The plan is by April 30, I'll already be in Manila,” the secretary said during a Zoom meeting with reporters.
Vida revealed this even after learning from Czech officials that former congressman Elizaldy "Zaldy" Co is no longer in their custody.
“Tomorrow I'm going to Rome,” said the DOJ chief.
Vida explained that he and a contingent from the DOJ will be attending the international conference for safeguarding of women, children, and other vulnerable adults which was initiated by Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.
“Napakalaga ‘yung usapin nito na tinututukan natin sa DOJ (This is a very important discussion that the DOJ is also focused on),” said Vida.
Vida went to the Czech Republic to lead a team to bring back Co upon the instructions of President Marcos who received information that the former lawmaker got accosted at the German border.
Co is the subject of arrest warrants issued by the Sandiganbayan where he is facing charges in connection to the flood control mess.
