The Manila local government warned the public, especially senior citizens, to remain vigilant following reports of scams involving individuals posing as cake delivery personnel from local government units in Metro Manila.
It urged the public to exercise caution and advised them to verify the identity of alleged delivery personnel before entertaining any transactions. It emphasized the need to check IDs and ensure that couriers are in proper uniform and are legitimate.
It also reminded them not to immediately trust unexpected deliveries and to avoid letting unverified delivery personnel enter their homes.
It also emphasized that legitimate deliveries from the local government do not require any payment.
On April 7, a similar scam was reported in Quezon City, where over P1 million worth of cash, vehicles, and other valuables were reportedly stolen by suspects posing as LGU birthday cake delivery staff.

Based on the investigation, a female suspect carrying a cake rang the victims’ doorbell and claimed it was sent by the mayor, prompting one of the victims to open the door and allow her entry.
Shortly after, four men and another female suspect forcibly entered the house, restrained the victims at gunpoint, tied them up, and covered their faces with cloth. The suspects then took cash, vehicles, gadgets, and assorted jewelry before fleeing aboard a white Toyota Innova.
To avoid being a victim of the same scam, the Manila LGU reminded the public to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious scam-related incidents to the barangay or police authorities.
