Jisoo of BLACKPINK received an award at the Cannes International Series Festival, currently being held in Cannes.
This year’s Canneseries features eight series in the main Competition, six Short Form Series in Competition, and five Docuseries in Competition, all vying for top honors.
On April 23, Jisoo was presented with the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award, which recognizes a personality who has become “a major figure of the industry.”
In her acceptance speech, she said: “I wanted to show new sides of myself through various activities, and I feel really grateful to be supported with such a wonderful award. While working on different projects, I learned new things and received help from many people. I believe all those experiences have given me the strength to take another step forward.”
Jisoo now joins a growing list of recipients of the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award.
“Following Sydney Sweeney, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Marie Colomb, Ella Purnell, Morfydd Clark, and Phoebe Dynevor, we are delighted to welcome Jisoo, a leading artist on the pop scene. Her artistic journey, her ability to conquer new creative territories, and her global aura make her the perfect embodiment of the Madame Figaro Rising Star Award spirit,” said Albin Lewi, artistic director of Cannes International Series Festival.
He added: “A meeting between a great international star and a constantly growing festival, brought together by the Madame Figaro Award, under the banner of excellence, boldness, and international influence.”
Canneseries described Jisoo as a star who “has established herself over the past several years as one of the most influential figures in worldwide pop culture.”
“As a solo artist, her Instagram account boasts over 80 million followers, making her one of the most followed Korean personalities in the world. Her influence extends far beyond music—fashion, luxury, cinema, and cultural trends—every appearance becomes an event. Alongside her extraordinary musical career, JISOO has successfully established herself as an actress,” the festival said.
Jisoo recently starred in "Boyfriend on Demand," a Netflix series partly filmed in the Philippines. Her other acting credits also include "Snowdrop" and "Newtopia."
