ENHYPEN's Jay responds to fans debating member count: I don't actually care
K-pop boy band ENHYPEN’s Jay finally addressed ongoing issue among fans whether the group should continue counting Heeseung as member even after he left to go solo.
Heeseung has since rebranded himself as Evan.
Fans launched a petition to bring him back to the group but to no avail. The petition garnered more than two million signatures.
In social media, fans insisted that ENHYPEN still has seven members (including Heeseung) while others said it was time to move on and support the remaining members of the group.
Jay broke his silence on the matter April 20 during a livestream meant to celebrate his birthday.
He said the comments are okay but urged people to refrain from doing it during another a member’s birthday celebration.
“I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say, but, like, what should I do? Some of you guys just like, you actually don't care about what the situation's going on, right?” he said.
He added, “Like you guys keep like…some of you just keep saying like six, seven, six or seven, six or seven, ENHYPEN is what…like I'm okay. I actually don't care, so I'm okay. ENHYPEN is ENHYPEN.”
He continued, “And I always try my best to ignore that. So I'm okay. But don't do that to other members, especially on their birthday. Like, I'm okay, but please don't do that to others, okay? I really don't want them to feel that in their birthday, okay?”
Jay added, “Just like thinking, thinking is totally like free. But if you're saying that in someone's birthday, like, I'm okay. I feel good. I feel good with all my fans. Today's was such a happy birthday for me, but I'm really like nervous that what if other members would feel like depressed in these situations? Like I'm really scared for that.”
“Hopefully I don't want that to happen in the future in other member’s birthday. Like in this kind of things, like so the only thing I want to say like is like let's see, let's see the situation. Like let's look around okay? Let's just look around like what is going on. I hope, I hopefully hopefully like yeah. That's it. I'm fine, I'm fine, okay? I don't like, I don't actually care. like I'm fine, but I just want other members to be happy with no risks, okay? That’s the reason,” he said.
