CEBU CITY – Two persons died in motorcycle accidents here.
One of the fatalities was a 17-year-old female college student, whose motorcycle was hit by an ambulance on a flyover on Archbishop Reyes Ave. on Tuesday afternoon, April 14.
The 18-year-old motorcycle driver, also a college student, was in critical condition.
Investigation showed that the ambulance counter-flowed on the two-lane flyover when it hit the motorcycle.
The female victim, a mechanical engineering student, was thrown off the motorcycle and ran over by the ambulance transporting a stroke patient to a hospital.
The victim died on the spot. The ambulance driver was taken into police custody after the incident.
On Monday night, April 13, a 44-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was driving hit a gutter in Barangay Mambaling.
Police said Lloyd Romero, 44, lost control of the motorcycle and suffered severe injuries after landing hard on the concrete pavement.
Police added the victim was already dead when personnel of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office arrived.
