Marcos won't pay attention to 'early campaigning' of RAGE coalition, Palace says
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (PCO)
Whether it was "early politicking" or "early campaigning," President Marcos will not pay any attention to the newly-formed political coalition's intention, Malacañang said.
"Kung anuman po ang ninanais nila sa gitna ng krisis sa Middle East, iyong maaga nilang pamumulitika, iyong maaga nilang pangangampanya, hindi na po iyan papansinin ng Pangulo at ng administrasyon na ito (Whatever they want in the middle of the Middle East crisis, whether early politicking or early campaigning, will no longer be given attention by the President and this administration)," Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Monday, April 13.
Castro said this when asked whether Malacañang is intimidated by the new coalition, which advocates unity "not for power, but for the people."
"Kung ano man po ang nais nila at kung ano ang nais nilang ipakita sa taumbayan, ang Pangulo tutok lang trabaho, walang bakasyon, walang pamumulitika (Whatever they may want and whatever they want to show the public, the President is focused on work only, no vacation, no politics)," Castro added.
The Palace official stressed that Marcos "is not engaging in politics," adding that he is not affected by his detractors' personal anger, interests, and ambitions.
She, however, expressed concern over the use of personal anger, interests, and ambitions to influence the public.
"Ang nakakabahala lamang dito, ay ang personal na galit, personal na interes at personal na ambisyon ay gamitin ang taumbayan na galitin ang puso ng bawat isa sa atin sa pamamagitan ng paglalahad ng kanilang fake news. Iyan ang nakakabahala (The President is not affected by personal anger, personal interests, or personal ambitions. What is concerning is when personal anger, personal interests, and personal ambitions are used to influence the public and stir anger in people’s hearts through the spread of fake news. That is what is alarming)," Castro said.
On Sunday, the RAGE Coalition, comprised of former House speaker and Davao del Norte 1st district Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez's Partido Reporma, Mike Defensor's Reform PH, and Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte of Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP–Laban), was launched.
Meanwhile, Castro described Duterte's opinion on the flood control anomalies investigation as strange, calling it self-destruction.
"Self-distruction, ang pagpapaimbestiga sa maanomalyang flood control projects ay self-destruction para sa Pangulo? Parang kakaiba po yata ang kanyang pananaw (does ordering an investigation into anomalous flood control projects amount to self-destruction for the President? That seems like a strange view)," Castro said.
Castro has once again question why the previous administration did not pursue a deep investigation into the anomalies.
"Hindi po ganyan ang pananaw ng Pangulo. Ang Pangulo po, kahit maapektuhan at matamaan ang kanyang administrasyon, kahit ang kaalyado man niya at kaibigan niya or kamag-anak niya ay maapektuhan, ipagpapatuloy po ang pag-iimbestiga sa flood control projects, bakit (That is not the President’s view. The President will continue the investigation into the flood control projects even if it affects and hits his own administration, even if his allies, friends, or relatives are affected. Why)?" Castro said.
"Dahil ito po ay pondo ng bayan na dapat i-report sa bayan. Kung mayroong dapat managot, iyan ang nais ng Pangulo, dapat na managot; hindi dapat na tinatakpan, hindi kinakailangan na magkaroon ng cover-up (Because this is public funds that must be accounted for to the people. If someone must be held accountable, that is what the President wants, those responsible must be made accountable. There should be no cover-up)," Castro added.
