579 Bilibid's PDLs take exams for elementary, junior high school diplomas
A total of 579 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City have taken the examinations to get their diplomas as elementary and junior high school graduates.
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said the PDLs took the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) test last March 29.
Those who took the tests included 161 for elementary and 418 PDLs for junior high school.
“The ALS A&E Assessment and Certification comprise an exam and other appropriate assessment to measure the competencies acquired by ALS learners based on the ALS K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum (BEC),” the bureau explained.
It also said that completers of the A&E test will be given a certificate or diploma bearing the Department of Education and ALS logo once they pass the examination.
It added that the test was administered by the BuCor’s Education and Training Section (ETS) with personnel from DepEd-ALS Bayanan serving as proctors.
Prior to the examination, the PDLs were properly oriented and security personnel were deployed to ensure safety and maintain peace and order, the BuCor said.
