DOJ's main offices to transfer from Manila to Paranaque this year
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is transferring within this year to its new P15-billion building in Baclaran, Paranaque City that was acquired from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
Acting Justice Secretary Fredderick A. Vida said the new building will house the DOJ’s various offices, including the Office of the Secretary Justice Prosecution Service (OSJPS) and the offices of the state prosecutors, legal services and other programs.
Vida also said the new building will also house the Office of the City Prosecutors of Paranaque City and Pasay City.
He added the new building along Aseana Avenue is near the new main office buildings of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“Mas bibilis na ugnayan ang magagawa (There will now be faster communication and coordination among these government agencies and the DOJ),” Vida said.
He said the building was once a private property that was bought by GSIS.
“It’s formerly known as the Centrium Building. It’s a two-tower compound in Paranaque City,” he also said.
Vida noted that one of the towers was acquired by the DOJ while the other was purchased by the DILG and are now undergoing retrofitting.
“The expectation is that within this year the DOJ and the DILG will be holding their central offices in those two towers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vida said the DOJ’s main office building in Manila will continue to house some of the department’s offices like the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
He also said the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office will be relocated to the DOJ main office building in Manila.
