Chinese national allegedly 'linked to Chinese Communist Party' arrested at NAIA
A Chinese national with alleged links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for using a Philippine passport.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified the arrested foreigner as Ronxuan Cai who arrived from Malaysia last March 30.
Viado said the Chinese national had been found actively using a Philippine passport under the name of Peter Buenaobra Zhuang in his travels.
He expressed concerns about Cai’s presence in the country following intelligence information the BI received from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).
“We have received validated information from government intelligence forces that Cai has links to the United Front Work Department of the Chinese Communist Party (UFWD-CCP),” he also said.
He added that given Cai’s influence and reach, “his case is a high-profile case.”
"We were able to obtain a copy of Cai's biometrics information from our records and compared it with the biometric records of his supposed Filipino name," he also said.
“It was confirmed that the two individuals are one and the same person," he added.
At the same time, Viado said that Cai has been using other Philippine documents including a driver’s license, birth certificate, and marriage certificate.
The BI said that Cai is under the bureau’s custody pending the filing of charges against him.
