BI expects 45,000 daily passenger departures this Holy Week
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it expects a daily departure of 45,000 passengers in the country’s airports and seaports this Holy Week.
In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado said the peak day this week is today, Wednesday, April 1.
“We expect some queues at the airports because of the sheer number of travelers, but we commit to full deployment for a manageable airport experience for passengers,” Viado said.
He also said the immigration officers are on full alert to ensure that operations remain orderly and efficient.
At the same time, Viado advised passengers against scammers who will take advantage of the period through fraudulent websites that charge fees for the government’s electronic travel declaration system or eTravel.
He reminded that the “eTravel registration process is absolutely free,” and thus the passengers should register only through the official government website at etravel.gov.ph.
