President Marcos turned out well and accomplished despite his sister’s insistence that he needed guidance, a Palace official said.
Palace Press Officer and Communication Undersecretary Claire Castro pointed out that Marcos carries himself well in public, does not have meltdowns, does not threaten anyone’s life, and his family remains intact, questioning if he really needed supervision.
This came after Senator Imee Marcos released a video where she apologized to their father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., for not being able to watch over her younger brother.
Castro fired back at the senator on Tuesday, March 31, questioning who truly needed watching over.
"Ang sabi niya ay 'hindi nabantayan,' sino kaya talaga ang hindi nabantayan ng magulang at sino ba talaga ang hindi nabantayan ang kapatid (She said 'not able to watch over'—but who really wasn’t monitored by their parents, and who really wasn’t watched over by their sibling)?" Castro said when sought for reaction over the senator's remarks.
"Unang-una po, ang Pangulo, hindi po ito nagmumura, hindi ito nagmi-meltdown lalo na sa publiko at hindi po ito nagbabanta sa buhay ninuman. Ang Pangulo po ay ikinasal, may pamilya, hanggang ngayon ay faithful sa asawa. So, sino po kaya ba ang naging pasaway? Sino po kaya ang dapat binantayan (First of all, the President does not curse, does not have public meltdowns, and does not threaten anyone’s life. The President is married, has a family, and to this day remains faithful to his spouse. So, who really misbehaved? Who really should have been watched over)?" Castro added.
The Palace mouthpiece further questioned whether the President's sister was asking for forgiveness for not able to watch over her brother, or for publicly slandering him.
Asked whether the President was aware of his sister's recent statements, Castro said "the President is aware of what is happening to us and the what happens around us. And we can be assured that the President does not slander his sibling."
