CEBU CITY – Amid the continuing oil price hikes, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has implemented several energy-saving measures.
Police Col. George Ylanan, chief of CCPO, issued a memorandum reminding his personnel to be mindful of their fuel consumption.
Ylanan reminded CCPO personnel to avoid vehicle idling.
He reminded that staying inside parked police cars with the airconditioning on must be avoided.
Police Lt. Col. Franco Rudolf Oriol, information officer of the CCPO, said those conducting patrols at night were also advised to avoid using airconditioners.
Oriol added that although the city government did not slash its fuel allowance to CCPO, efficient use of fuel must be observed.
CCPO’s energy-saving measures came as more gas stations have started selling diesel and gasoline at more than P100 per liter amid the continuing conflict in the Middle East.
Oriol assured that the austerity measures will not affect CCPO’s capability to timely respond to emergencies.
“We make sure that the police response in case there are emergencies will prompt,” Oriol said.
