Two ranking prosecutors of the Department of Justice (DOJ) have been bestowed the rank of auxiliary commodore by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Senior Assistant State Prosecutors Gilmarie Fe S. Pacamarra and Marmarie P. Satin-Vivas were honored as auxiliary commodore of the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) Executive Squadron during oath-taking rites led by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan at the PCG national headquarters in Manila last March 18.
The DOJ said the rank of auxiliary commodore at the PCGA Executive Squadron is equivalent to a one-star general.
“By working alongside the PCG, these women prosecutors help shape, bridge the gap, and harmonize the legal framework between law enforcement, prosecution and adjudication,” it said.
It also said: “Their designation as Auxiliary Commodores of the PCGA Executive Squadron is not just ceremonial – it signifies honor and prestige with accompanying commitment, responsibilities, and accountability in safeguarding the Philippines’ territorial waters and maritime domain.”
The DOJ noted that the appointment of women prosecutors within the PCGA also reflects “a growing integrative approach to maritime governance and maritime security by carrying out its mission of promoting safety of life and property at sea, protecting the marine environment, strengthening disaster response, conducting search and rescue operations, and assisting in youth development, among others.”
