Congressman Tiangco, a 'fake news,' has too much to say — Castro
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro, on Monday, March 23, hit Navotas Lone District Rep. Toby Tiangco for "having a lot to say" as he keeps on allegedly badmouthing government institutions.
Her remark came after Tiangco claimed there is now vote buying in the House of Representatives to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte, as lawmakers fear that she will prosecute those involved in the flood control project controversy if she becomes president.
Castro, in her press briefing, defended the Marcos administration against Tiangco's claim that it is being "so fixated" on Vice President Sara Duterte, an ally-turned-critic of the President, saying there are many politicians that the government is hunting down in relation to anomalies and corruption.
"Itong si Congressman Toby Tiangco, andaming sinasabi, pero wala tayong nakikitang anumang ebidensiya (Congressman Toby Tiangco has a lot to say, but we aren't seeing any evidence whatsoever)," Castro said in a press briefing.
"Kaya ang hamon natin mismo kay Congressman Toby Tiangco, para mapatunayan niya ito, hindi ba dapat kahit pa Presidente, ang Bise Presidente dapat nagta-trabaho na siya para mapanagot ang mga di umanong kurap lalung-lalo na doon sa mga ghost projects noong panahon ng kanyang ama (So our challenge to Congressman Toby Tiangco himself is this: to prove his point, shouldn't the Vice President—or even the President—already be working to hold the allegedly corrupt accountable, especially regarding those ghost projects during her father's time)," she added.
Castro said it is actually easy for Tiangco to do so by just asking former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPW) secretary Senator Mark Villar.
"Hanggat hindi ito nagagawa, ang sabi nga natin, maaaring nanlilinlang si... Congressman Tiangco (While this isn't yet done, as we've said, Congressman Tiangco is just deceiving the public)," she added.
Castro advised Tiangco to stop badmouthing government institutions, especially the one to which he belongs.
"Hindi dapat niyang sinisiraan, lalo na't wala siyang ebidensiya; kawawa ang mga Pilipino sa mga taong puro fake news ang inihahatid sa atin (He shouldn't be badmouthing institutions, especially since he has no evidence. The Filipino people suffer because of individuals who deliver nothing but fake news)," she added.
"Katulad ng sinabi ng ating Pangulo sa kanyang mensahe, iwasan po natin magbigay ng fake news at kasama na po kayo doon Congressman Toby Tiangco (Just as what our President said in his message, let us avoid spreading fake news—and that includes you, Congressman Toby Tiangco)," she added.
