Malacañang: We need unity, cooperation as Middle East crisis 'not govt's fault'
Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro (RTVM)
Malacañang has asked for cooperation from the public amid the crisis brought by the Middle East conflict.
"Sa panahon ngayon, ang kailangan natin ay pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan (What we need this time is unity and cooperation)," Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said Friday, March 20, as Filipinos await concrete solutions from the government on the skyrocketing prices of oil and the weakened peso.
Castro said President Marcos "is aware of all our grievances" brought by the effects of the US and Israel's joint attack on Iran, adding "we never wanted this."
"Hindi ito kasalanan ng Pangulo at ng gobyerno (This is not the President and the government's fault)," she said.
Castro said what the President is prioritizing right now is giving out assistance to the transportation sector through financial aid and fuel subsidy.
What the President is asking right now, Castro said, is "understanding and trust in the decisions being made by the government," that is now balancing the welfare of the commuting public and the transportation sector.
"Sana magtulungan tayong lahat sa gitna ng krisis sa Middle East (Let's help each other in the middle of the Middle East crisis)," she added.
