CEBU CITY – The fare matrices of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) were officially released following its initial rollout last week.
Aside from the fare matrices, CBRT route maps and schedules were also released and will be implemented on Thursday, March 19.
Rates for CBRT were based on fare guidelines from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
The minimum fare for regular passengers is P18 for the first five kilometers with an additional P2.97 per succeeding kilometer for both northbound and southbound trips.
Students, senior citizens, and Persons with Disabilities will enjoy a discounted rate of P14.40 or 20 percent less than the regular rate.
CBRT had its initial rollout Friday, March 13.
City officials described the launching as smooth although some motorists complained of traffic congestion, particularly on Natalio Bacalso Ave. to Osmena Boulevard where some lanes were used exclusively for CBRT buses.
Acknowledging the complaint, Mayor Nestor Archival said the city is considering opening some portions of the dedicated CBRT lanes to other vehicles.
Archival said opening the CBRT lanes to other lanes is just among the adjustments that the city is looking into to avoid traffic congestion.
