Fifteen persons were arrested in an alleged drug den that was discovered by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a low-cost lodging house in Cebu City.
The NBI said that during the raid conducted last March 12, two “maintainers” were arrested after receiving marked money from an undercover agent of the bureau.
Thereafter, it said, 13 other individuals were caught using suspected illegal drugs inside various rooms of the lodging house.
After their arrest, the NBI Cebu District Office (NBI-CEBDO) filed criminal charges against the 15 persons for violations of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended, including maintenance of a drug den under Section 6, visiting a den under Section 7, possession of drug paraphernalia under Section 12, and use of illegal drugs under Section 15.
The NBI said that a separate charge for violation of Section 6 of RA 9165 was also filed against the owner of the lodging house for allowing the establishment to be utilized for illegal activities.
It also said the raid was conducted after receiving an intelligence report that the lodging house was being used as a drug den.
