Man arrested for fleeing fender bender in La Union

AGOO, La Union – A man was arrested for allegedly fleeing the site of a fender bender in Barangay Quinavite, Bauang, La Union on Saturday morning, March 14.
Harvin G. Bausing, 30, a member of the Philippine Coast Guard and resident of Barangay Poro, City of San Fernando, La Union, was driving a Toyota Vios sedan when it was hit from behind by a white Subaru Forester driven by Ray Joseph V. de Castro, 46, of Barangay Ligas, Bacoor City, Cavite.
Both parties agreed to proceed to the Bauang Police Station for settlement but De Castro suddenly sped away.
Police chased the suspect until Barangay San Marcos in Agoo where he crashed into another motorist.
Police was forced to ram his vehicle to stop him. The suspect allegedly refused to cooperate, prompting police to shoot his vehicle’s front tires. Officers also broke the car window to open the door.
De Castro was arrested without anyone being injured but the vehicles involved sustained damage. Agoo police took custody of the suspect and jurisdiction of the case.
