CEBU CITY – No one could stop Vice President Sara Duterte from becoming the country’s next president.
Lawyer Salvador Panelo, a staunch Duterte supporter, boldly declared this during the launching of the Cebu Alliance for Duterte 2028 on Friday, March 13, in a hotel here.
Panelo, chief presidential legal adviser and presidential spokesperson during the Duterte administration, said Vice President Duterte is destined to become the president.
“Nakatakda siya maging presidente (She is destined to become president). The Gods of destiny (has) anointed her to be the next president of the country. No force on Earth, in this country, will prevent her from accomplishing the anointment by the Gods of fortunes,” Panelo said.
Panelo added even the impeachment case against Sara will not affect her bid to become the next president.
He said it is expected that the Vice President will be impeached by the House of Representatives.
But when the impeachment case reaches the Senate, it will be a different story, Panelo said.
Panelo expressed confidence that the Senate will not be able to muster enough votes to impeach the Vice President.
“Ang mga panatiko lang na anti-Duterte lang boboto for the impeachment. (Risa) Hontiveros, (Francis) Pangilinan, (Panfilo) Lacson, (Tito) Sotto, and most likely Bam (Aquino) but the rest, it’s another story,” Panelo said.
Panelo added that several lawmakers at the House Representatives are even expected to support the Vice President.
Led by businessman Dr. Winley dela Fuente, the launching of the alliance was attended by several prominent figures.
Aside from Panelo, also present were Prof. Malou Tiquia, Puwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat Party-list Rep. Harold Duterte, Bagong Henerasyon (BH) party-list Rep. Roberto Nazal, ex-BH Rep. Bernadette Herrera, former Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, former Negros Oriental first district Rep. Jacinto Paras, Dr. Richard Mata, Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, and Cavite fourth district Rep. Kiko Barzaga.
Dela Fuente said at least 20 pro-Duterte parallel groups attended the launch.
He added more activities have lined up, including a concert that will be held on the birthday of former President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, March 28.
