BuCor's Catapang also files perjury charge vs 18 former 'Marines'
Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. on Monday, March 9, filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) perjury and cyber libel complaints against the 18 alleged former Marines and their lawyer Levito Baligod.
Catapang was accused by the 18 former “Marines” of delivering eight suit cases containing cash to former congressman Zaldy Co.
Interviewed after the filing of the complaints, Catapang said: “Hindi kayang palampasin ito dahil paninirang puri na po ito. Demolition job na po ito (I can’t let this pass because this is defamation. This is a demolition job.”
Also on Monday, March 9, Party-List Rep. Leila de Lima and human rights activist Fr. Flavie Villanueva filed perjury complaints against the 18 former “Marines” at the DOJ.
Catapang declared: “Walang pera na ganoon kalaki ang BuCor para nakawin ko (the BuCor doesn’t have that large amount of money for me steal).”
“Wala naman po kaming DPWH projects. Wala po kaming ghost projects. At hindi po kami nai-involve sa whatever anomalies na sinasabi nila (We don’t have projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways. We don’t have ghost projects. We are not involved in any anomalies subject of their allegations,” he said.
Catapang said that even if the 18 former “Marines” would withdraw their allegations against him, he would still prefer that his complaint be investigated to unearth the truth.
