Woman arrested for 'attempting' to sell condo unit she does not own -- NBI
A woman, who attempted to sell a condominium unit which she does not own, has been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Cainta, Rizal.
The name of the arrested woman was not disclosed by the NBI.
It said the woman was charged before the Rizal provincial prosecutor’s office with estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code as amended by Republic Act No. 10951.
The complaint against the woman was filed by the person who sought to buy the condominium unit from her.
The NBI said the woman misrepresented herself as the owner of a condominium unit, advertising it for rent in a Facebook group dedicated to ‘sangla-tira’ arrangements.
On a P300,000 loan, the woman allowed the complainant to occupy the condominium unit. However, despite promises, the woman did not provide any documentation to prove her ownership.
Later, the NBI said the woman offered to sell the property to the complainant for P1.5 million.
It said: “The scam was exposed when the legitimate owner of the condo unit appeared and demanded payment for two months of rental delinquency, threatening eviction if the rent was not settled. The real owner confirmed that the Subject had no authority to sell the property.”
