Sandara Park refutes claim by Park Bom: 'I have never used drugs'
K-pop group 2NE1 member Sandara Park belied the claim of fellow member Park Bom that she was involved in a drug case in the past.
“I have never used drugs. I wish her well,” Sandara, or Dara, posted on Instagram Stories on March 4.
The post was to refute the claim by Park Bom that she was made to look like a drug addict to cover up Sandara’ drug case.
“I’m being cautious in case this causes another uproar, but I feel troubled about the drug known as Adderall. It is not a narcotic. I am a patient with ADD [attention deficit disorder],” Park Bom wrote, Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
She said, “Sandara Park was caught in a drug case and, to cover it up, made Park Bom into a drug addict.”
“I hope YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk [the founder of YG Entertainment], Teddy [a music producer] and Lee Chae-rin [2NE1 member CL] will stop reporting to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug she has not taken in nearly 30 years,” she said.
This stemmed from Park Bom’s controversy in October 2010 when a package containing Adderall, a medication for ADHD, was sent from the US for her in Korea. There was an investigation and she submitted medical records. The prosecution suspended her indictment.
Adderall is illegal in South Korea due to the ingredient dextroamphetamine, which is prohibited in South Korea, according to the Seoul Law Group website.
The controversy was reported in 2014, which forced Park Bom to go on hiatus in Korea.
Someone close to Park Bom said, "We were made aware of the content a little while ago. As you know, this happened due to Park Bom's unstable health. We ask for your understanding."
This was not the first time that Park Bom courted controversy through her social media posts.
Last October, she accused Yang Hyun-suk, YG Entertainment founder, of not paying her for her work in 2NE1 activities.
Her agency, D-Nation, later clarified that Park Bom was paid for all her 2NE1 activities.
In 2024 and last year, Park Bom posted on Instagram photos of her and actor Lee Min-ho, calling him “my husband.”
In one post, she claimed that Lee Min-ho asked her to upload the posts.
"Hi, my lovely fans. It's Park Bom. I'm actually alone. I posted them because Lee Minho asked me to, but I just wanted to say that I'm alone. Have a great day!" she wrote.
The posts prompted Lee Min-ho’ agency to issue a denial.
"They have no personal connection whatsoever. Park Bom's claim that Lee Minho asked her to post is completely false as well," the agency said, SBS News’ report added.
