2NE1's Park Bom claims Sandara Park got involved in past drug case
K-pop group 2NE1 member Park Bom has stirred controversy again, this time accusing fellow member Sandara Park of being involved in a past drug case.
In 2014, Park Bom went into hiatus after a news report was published about an incident in October 2010 involving Adderall, a drug used to treat people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), formerly called Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
In October 2010, a package containing Adderall was sent from the US to Park Bom in Korea. It required customs declaration and approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. There was an investigation and she submitted medical records. The prosecution suspended her indictment.
“Adderall is illegal in South Korea because it contains dextroamphetamine, which is prohibited in South Korea,” according to the Seoul Law Group website.
On March 3, Park Bom uploaded a letter on Instagram and talked about Adderall and Sandara Park.
“I’m being cautious in case this causes another uproar, but I feel troubled about the drug known as Adderall. It is not a narcotic. I am a patient with ADD [attention deficit disorder],” she wrote, Korea JoongAng Daily reported.
She added, “Sandara Park was caught in a drug case and, to cover it up, made Park Bom into a drug addict.”
“I hope YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk [the founder of YG Entertainment], Teddy [a music producer] and Lee Chae-rin [2NE1 member CL] will stop reporting to the authorities that Park Bom used more than the prescribed amount of a drug she has not taken in nearly 30 years,” she said.
Following the post, a source close to Sandara Park told Korean media, “It is groundless. Sandara Park is worried about Park Bom’s current health.”
Someone close to Park Bom said, "We were made aware of the content a little while ago. As you know, this happened due to Park Bom's unstable health. We ask for your understanding."
Last October, Park Bom accused Yang Hyun-suk of fraud and embezzlement.
“The defendant [Yang Hyun-suk] has not paid the plaintiff [Park Bom] the profits that should have been rightfully paid to her for a long period of time, so I want a thorough investigation and legal punishment for this,” she wrote.
Her agency, D-Nation, later clarified that Park Bom was paid for all her 2NE1 activities.
“The settlement related to Park Bom's 2NE1 activities has already been completed, and the lawsuit posted on social media has not been filed. Park Bom has halted all activities and is focusing on treatment and recovery. We will do our best to help our artist regain her health.”
