BUTUAN CITY – Police recently arrested the No. 1 most wanted person in Surigao del Sur.
The 35-year-old suspect, Dong, was wanted for qualified rape and was apprehended in Tago, Surigao del Sur.
“The operation was the culmination of a Target Intelligence Packet (TOP) specially designed to track the province’s top-tier wanted individuals,” said Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) Director Police Col. Jeffrey Lawrence D. Mauricio.
Dong was arrested on a warrant dated Nov. 17, 2025, issued by the Tandag City Regional Trial Court Branch 15 with no bail recommended.
The suspect was taken to the Tago MPS for proper disposition and documentation.
Mauricio lauded operating units for arresting the suspect. “This operation was not just about serving a warrant; it was about honoring our commitment to protect the most vulnerable members of our community from those who commit heinous crimes,” Mauricio said, adding: “Our message to the public is clear: We are here for you, we are watching, and we will never stop working for peace and order in our province.”
Meanwhile, a New People’s Army (NPA) and three Militia ng Bayan (MB) members surrendered to the police in Butuan City.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV lauded them for surrendering and availing of the government’s peace and development program.
Also surrendering to the military in Bukidnon recently were a couple – NPA finance officers 50-year-old Ka Makong and 52-year-old Ka Ensi – who had been in the communist movement for 30 years and an NPA fighter.
They turned over guns, bullets, and rocket-propelled grenades.
