The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has implemented a reshuffle of its key officials in various prison and penal farms “to enhance its mandate of safekeeping and reformation” of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. announced the reshuffle during a ceremony held at the bureau’s headquarters in Muntinlupa City on Friday, Feb. 27.
The BuCor said that C/SSupt. Ruben Formoso has been appointed as superintendent of the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) while CT/SSupt. Daisy Sevilla-Castillote has been assigned as head of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City.
Formoso replaced C/Supt Ricardo R. Sespene Jr. who is now assigned to the BuCor’s Land Control and Management Center Anti-Squatting Unit.
Castillote, on the other hand, took over from CT/SSupt. Marjorie Ann P. Sanidad who is now assigned to the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) Hospital in Muntinlupa City.
It also said that C/SSupt. Alfredo Devaras, who served as commander of the BuCor’s national headquarters, has been appointed as superintendent of the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, the post Castillote vacated.
It added that C/SSupt. Roger Boncales, who held the position of superintendent of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, was transferred to the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro.
Boncales will be replaced by C/Supt. Gary Garcia, the superintendent of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan which will now be headed by C/Supt. Edgardo M. Mendoza Jr., the superintendent of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).
C/Supt. Abel D.R. Ciruela who headed the SPPF has been named superintendent of the DPPF.
