A total of 340 new corrections officers will be deployed to beef up personnel in the prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
The BuCor said the 340 personnel with the rank of Corrections Officer 1 (CO1) graduated on Thursday morning, Feb. 26, during recognition rites held at the bureau’s headquarters in Muntinlupa City.
There were 235 males and 105 females who have undergone rigorous training in preparation for their roles within the bureau, it said.
It also said the new personnel have committed to uphold discipline and embrace the responsibilities of safekeeping and reforming the persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The BuCor has seven operating prison and penal farms nationwide – the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, and the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Abuyog, Leyte.
