The Mais Festival of the town of Tubao, La Union emerged champion in the first-ever Battle of La Union Festivals: Street Dancing Competition, one of the highlights of the 176th La Union founding anniversary celebration with the “Rikna ti Agkaysa,” on Saturday, Feb. 21.
Nineteen towns and one city garbed in colorful costumes and dancing to the tourism jingle "Feel La Union" in San Fernando City competed in the event that featured hometown festivals.
Mais Festival bagged the P300,000 cash prize and was also named Best in Production Design with a prize of P20,000.
Panagyaman Festival of the town of Balaoan was first runner-up with a cash prize of P250,000.
Abel-Panday Festival of Balaoan was second runner-up, receiving P200,000 and an additional P20,000, for winning the Reyna ti Agkaysa title.
Tinungbo Festival of Pugo was third runner-up and Best in Street Dance with a P170,000 prize. Kawayan Festival of Sudipen was the fourth runner-up with a P100,000 prize.
