Registered sex offender British national arrested in Romblon – BI
A British national, who is a registered sex offender and subject of a life-long sexual offense notification order in the United Kingdom since 2012, has been arrested in Romblon.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified the foreign registered sex offender as Andrew Charles Beaumont, 47.
Viado said that Beaumont was arrested last Feb. 16 in Sitio Cabalian in Sta. Fe, Romblon based on a mission order enforced by the operatives of the BI Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU).
The BI said that “Beaumont was also convicted in Australia in 2009 on multiple charges involving the sexual abuse of a minor.”
It also said: “Court records showed that the former teacher was sentenced to four years and six months of imprisonment, with a three-year non-parole period, after engaging in repeated sexual activity with a 15-year-old victim over a six-week period.”
It added that Beaumont, who arrived in the country on Sept. 19, 2022 as a temporary visitor, was discovered to be managing a local diving business in Romblon where he provided diving lessons and demonstrated scuba equipment for a fee.
However, the BI said his last authorized extension expired in November 2023 which rendered him an overstaying alien.
Beaumont is now detained at the BI’s Warden Facility pending his deportation.
“It is absolutely unacceptable for foreign sex offenders to come to our country,” said Viado.
He also said: “We express our outrage against anyone—especially foreigners—who seek to victimize minors and violate their innocence. The Bureau of Immigration will relentlessly pursue and deport individuals who pose a threat to our children.”
