Marcos still studying ICI report, Palace says

President Marcos has received the report of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and was still studying it, Malacañang said.
Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said this when sought for updates on the fate of ICI, a body created by the President to investigate anomalous flood control projects.
The President's review of the ICI's report, according to Castro, would determine the next step for the body.
"Inaaral pa po hanggang sa ngayon – medyo makapal po ang report na ibinigay (It is still being reviewed up to now — the report submitted is rather lengthy)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
"Pero most probably, maibibigay po kaagad namin kung ano ang mangyayari po; at kung magtutuluy-tuloy po ang ICI, ibibigay din po namin ang estado nila (However, we will most likely be able to promptly provide information on what will happen; and if the ICI continues, we will also provide an update on its status)," Castro added.
Early this month, Malacañang said the fate of the ICI will depend on their own decision—whether to hire more members, ask for the administration's help, or conclude their investigation.
Marcos, in turn, will be listening to whatever the ICI decides, Castro said last Feb. 3.
If the ICI, which currently has one remaining commissioner, decides to carry on with their mandate, they are free to communicate it with the President, and they will be supported, Castro added.
Through Executive Order (EO) No. 94, Marcos created the ICI which serves as a powerful fact-finding body tasked to investigate corruption and irregularities in flood control and other public works projects.
Under the EO, the ICI will submit monthly reports to the Office of the President through the Executive Secretary and will make public its accomplishments. It will be dissolved once it completes its mandate, unless otherwise ordered by the President.
